This morning our under 15s came back from there christmas break early to take part in the indoor assault course at challenge for change at trafford park, Manchester. After arriving quite early the lads were sat around waiting and taking a look at our under 13s that were taking in the session before us there were a few twitchy bums within the room. apart from the squad members there were a few parents and myself taking part in the days events, (Ian Eccleston,Tony Lowe, Simon Clarence, Shaun Whiteside).
During the first hour the squad took part in team exercises to get the working together again and after a 2 week break it was just what the lads needed, The first task was set in a big pit of tyres were the lads had to get from 1 side to the other whilst doing various activities. Whilst we were in the tyre pit we managed to lose a players trainer but carried on until the end then sent out the search party to find it. This was only the warm up for what was going to be a nice and tough session ahead.
other tasks the Squad had to overcome were: crawling through tunnels, tyre bounding, army net crawl, parallel bars, giant wall, up n under challenge, this was all in the first hour.
during the second hour it was time to have a little bit of fun (or so thats what we thought) the group was split into 2 and they had the chance to do: the leap of faith in which everyone accomplished including shaun who is terrified of heights whilst the other group were taking part in the ariel assault course which was situated up in the top of the building and different things that went around the parimeter of the building before swapping over.
overall this trip was a huge success and we gained more out of it than we expected which will give us the boost needed to complete the 2nd half of the season and hopefully complete the season with a trophy by finishing top of the table. we know its going to be tough but the lads are ready for the challenge starting with an away game on the 9th jan against Hindley who are a good side who never give in.
i urge you all to take up this challenge for all of the teams and i assure you it will be a great day as it was for our under 15s
there were plenty of pictures taken on the day and they are available to look at on Donna Lowe's facebook page.
